We have some good news for all crypto enthusiasts and airdrop hunters. Stellar announced airdrop worth of $125 million in XML tokens to all Blockchain Wallet users. So far, this is the biggest airdrop in cryptocurrency history.
Stellar and Blockchain partnership
Stellar is a decentralized, open-source platform that enables fast, global, and secure transactions between different pairs of cryptocurrencies. Its native currency, which powers the Stellar network, is called lumen (XML).
The main value of Stellar is that it makes exchanges between cryptocurrencies or fiat currencies fast and cheap.
On the other side, we have Blockchain, a popular cryptocurrency software provider. With this wallet, users can store, send, receive, and trade with cryptocurrencies.
The Blockchain wallet is available in 140 countries, and at the moment, it counts more than 41 million active wallets.
Last year Blockchain decided to partner up with Stellar. And the rest goes down in crypto history as the biggest airdrop ever.
In honor of their partnership, Stellar decided to give away $125 millions in XML tokens to anyone owning a Blockchain wallet. These are some huge numbers, don’t you agree?
According to a blog post on Blockchain’s website, more organizations decided to join and support the airdrop distribution. They include the Stanford d.school’s emerging tech initiative, Network for Good, and Code.org.
During its genesis, Stellar developed 100 billion lumens. 95 billion lumens are planned to be distributed, and here is how:
- 50% will be distributed through the Direct Sign-up Program
- Stellar also plans to distribute 25% through the Partnership Program
- 20% will be given away via the Bitcoin Program, and
- 5% belongs to SDF for various operational costs
The free airdrop represents 2.6% of lumens, and it will distribute XML to several million people.
How to participate in the Stellar airdrop?
First things first, you’ll need a Blockchain wallet. It’s easy and free to create one, and you can do that on the website Blockchain.com. Here you’ll have to provide your email and password. And that’s it. You’ve successfully created a wallet.
Next, you can add yourself to the waitlist through this link: www.blockchain.com/getcrypto. Then, the Blockchain will send you an email with instructions once your turn has come.
To make sure that you don’t receive more XML than planned, Blockchain will require a confirmation of your identity.
Each recipient will receive about $25 worth of the lumens.
At the moment, Stellar is the sixth largest cryptocurrency with a market cap of around $5 billion. And conducting the largest airdrop in history is definitely a good move.
This way, users will be able to test and try out the platform, and spread the word about the project. Plus, it means that lumens will reach to 30 million crypto wallets.
According to Jed McCaleb, Stellar co-founder, distribution of airdrop will help create a “more inclusive digital economy.”
